I hope it's not too late to say Happy New Year, everyone!
I know that we have entered the second week of January 2025 and life certainly goes on. I sincerely hope that many great things happening back in 2024 will be repeated, even more!
I guess many of us have prayed for better, healthier, more prosperous and more joyful 2025. Perhaps you still remember how bleak it was when started 2024, with the ongoing conflicts in many parts of the world, especially the horrific tragedy unfolding in Gaza and the surroundings. Sadly, the violence continued and I lost words in expressing how sad, how angry and how frustrated I was towards this situation. The same goes to millions of us, regardless whether we are Moslems or not. Well, we see some silver lining now with cease fire and hopefully it stays that way.
Nevertheless, 2024 has been a wonderful year for me and The Frakarsas as well. So many great memories as well as first - time experience, be it personally or as a family.
So, I would like to take this opportunity to once again have a little reflection of how 2024 has been and surprisingly, 2024 has been joyfully hectic, richfully fulfilling and blissfully enjoyable.
Let's see how my 2024 has been...
JANUARY
Fully embracing home after our 2-year assignment in Aotearoa, New Zealand, we started January with a visit to Bandung. Paris van Java never disappoints of course!
I remembered we had series of meeting and I got the chance to stay in Dago area, at SwissBel Hotel as well as Intercontinental Dago, and managed to visit Tahura or Taman Hutan Rakyat Dago, exploring the forest as well as its caves and interesting history.
January took me to Bandung, Lampung and Bogor. All packed with new wonderful memories
FEBRUARY
February started with a bang as we, the Indonesian people, casted our votes for the new President and Vice President of the Republic of Indonesia. For sure my hubby and I didn't miss the chance to vote our choices, for a better Indonesia 🇮🇩🔥.
This was also the month when we bid take-good-care-and-see-you-soon to Abang. It was quite a heart-wrenching moment as for the first time ever, my boy will be pursuing his higher study independently, living in Wellington New Zealand alone. We took him to the airport and we wished him all the best for sure!
February was indeed packed with back-to-back meetings, coordination and for sure collaboration. My works have expanded immensely since I was trusted with human rights and humanitarian portfolios in Kemlu.
This month, I was once again accompanying our Minister for Foreign Affairs, H.E. Retno Marsudi, to Geneva. We attended the 55th Session of Human Rights Council and some high level side events and meetings, including with the OIC, the Gulf, as well as Palestine for sure. Very productive meetings we have here! I am also happy to be back to the place I consider my second home.
MARCH
March was another lovely month. Finally, I visited Pekanbaru, Riau, again after coming here back in 2000. That's 24 years ago! Then for the first time ever, I finally visited Medan, the capital city of North Sumatera. What a bless! I was there for series of meetings but I did visit Maimun Palace and some landmarks there.
We started out Ramadhan here, the first one again after coming back home again. So happy and blessed to have this holy Ramafhan at home with my beloved family.
APRIL
After Ramadhan, we celebrated Idul Fitri in April. This time, we gathered in Jakarta, having my mom and my brother's family coming to Jakarta. It’s not out traditional way of celebrating this auspicious moment, as we usually go back to Lampung.
Yet, it’s always good to start a new tradition, right? So there we were.. gathering in Jakarta for Lebaran Day and even host the fun part of it, the scrumptious lunch together as well as saweran or giving money to the kids!
My hubby and I went to the Lebaran gathering hosted by Minister Retno Marsudi as well. It was really a great time to meet many friends and colleagues, as well as our counterparts from Embassies and International Organizations. Eid Mubarak! Then I was back to Bali again for more preparation of World Water Forum.
MAY
Another busy month I have here and May is mesmerizing as I was traveling back to Bali. This time, it was for almost 10 days for World Water Forum!
I was helping the organizing committee to handle and help organizing various non substantive meetings, like the opening ceremony, official dinners, high - level lunches and side visits. It was very exciting, and tiring at the same time!
JUNE
Time flies and without further a do, we have finally come to the mid month of the year, June.
Well, I will stop here as the post is already long enough I guess. And if I put most of the photos of moments, events and mementos from the first part of 2024, it will be a long list indeed.
I certainly will be back with my review of 2024 but meanwhile, please do enjoy your 2025. May Allah SWT, the Almighty, bestow nothing but the best to all of us.
